TLG advises the Embassy on the timing and substance of messaging to US officials. Similarly, on behalf of NA Interpipe, TLG advised on a federal outreach program addressing Section 232 tariffs on steel imports from Ukraine.
  • TLG communicates effectively with state and local officials and private sector leaders in support of client government relations objectives and business development goals. We advocate for client interests before governors, state agencies and legislatures, and local officials.
  • Together with our clients, we have been successful in the States of Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, among others.
  • TLG worked with Health Supply US, a leading government contracting and medical supply company, to establish manufacturing operations in Greenville County, South Carolina. We helped secure tax incentives and infrastructure assistance to offset the costs of building and maintaining the facility, and worked with the local water company to obtain a $6.5 million earmark to build a pumping station to serve the facility. Similarly, TLG worked with Sasol Synfuels International, a worldwide integrated energy and chemical company headquartered in South Africa, on its nearly $13 billion investment in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
  • Most recently, TLG professionals have helped Asian solar manufacturing firm to set up a new factory in South Carolina and connect the Inflation Reduction Act subsidies, investment and production tax credits, state, county, and port authority benefits.

Global Corporations

Aptos Solar Technology / Mateis Solar Advanced Panel – TLG has helped launch Mateis Solar Corporation in the State of South Carolina, including identifying and facilitating site selection, choice of building and realtor, and participating in the lease agreement. Utilizing our state and local working relationships, TLG helped secure New Market Tax Credits and other state and county incentives, and arranged for free recruiting and training of employees by readySC, a workforce training program part of the SC Technical College System. We also secured applied materials and packaging assistance from Clemson University. TLG continues to liaise with the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) and with federal, state and local officials.
Health Supply US, a leading government contracting and medical supply company – TLG has helped establish Health Supply US in Greenville County, bringing $150 million and creating 600 new jobs in the State of South Carolina over the next five years. Utilizing our state and local working relationships, TLG helped with site selection, to secure state and county incentives, and arranged for free recruiting and training of employees by readySC. We also secured applied materials and packaging assistance from Clemson University. Moreover, we helped secure a $6.3 million earmark to the local water company and are seeking additional funds through the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations process. TLG aided in the plant announcement, which included participation by the Governor, State Secretary of Commerce, and the GADC. TLG continues to liaise with federal, state and local officials, as well as with local utilities and other stakeholders.
Sasol Synfuels International, a worldwide integrated energy and chemical company headquartered in South Africa with manufacturing facilities in the State of Louisiana – TLG advocated for US government policies to enable the coal-to-liquid (CTL) and gas-to-liquid (GTL) industries to grow in the US. The team worked with Sasol to develop working relationships with decision makers within the federal government, including the Departments of Defense and Energy. We educated officials, as well as private sector business and thought leaders, about Sasol’s expertise. TLG also provided guidance and reach at the state and local level at all phases, from site selection to community engagement to production. As of September 2019, Sasol’s world-scale GTL facility was nearly 100 percent complete, with an estimated cost of just under $13 billion.
Soitec, a French-based international industrial company specializing in generating and manufacturing high performance semiconductor materials – TLG successfully assisted the company in winning a competitive $25 million grant from the Department of Energy (DOE). TLG advocated for market expansion in the United States, including support for a DOE loan guarantee and tax credits for a solar project in California. The team also advised on potential opportunities for existing and new solar technology at DOE and in the defense space.
Ukrmetalurgprom, a Ukrainian steel association – TLG represented Ukrmetalurgprom before the US Administration and Congress and relevant thirdparty stakeholders, in order to advance the bilateral trade relationship between the Governments of the United States and Ukraine. We provided regular counsel on the representation strategy and next steps, and advised on the substance and timing of core messages. We also analyzed developments within the US Government that pertain to and/or impact steel trade in general and with Ukraine.
US Chamber of Commerce, a premier business federation – TLG worked to draft and include specific legislative language in FY 2012 and FY 2013 House Appropriations bills to: (1) place the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under the annual appropriations process and increase CFPB transparency requirements; (2) require the Treasury Department to make Judgment Fund payments transparent and accessible to the public on an annual basis; and, (3) restrict implementation of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) rules regarding petitions related to representation of employees for purposes of collective bargaining with their employer and bargaining unit determinations.
Oracle, a world leader in software and database management systems – TLG has shepherded Oracle through major industry congressional battles, and continues to actively represent the company on a wide range of issues, including antitrust/merger policy (both in the United States and the European Union), patent protection, repatriation, trade and immigration.
